 Digital Video Recorder info

With the Video Digital Video Recorder  from GE Security, you can get all the benefits of digital  video recording systems for about the same price as a standard security VCR. And with the new VDR version 1.05, you can copy video data onto a Compact Flash card and view it on any PC-without additional software. Compact Flash cards make it easy to hand over video evidence to the authorities.

The VDR gives you sharp, detailed pictures with 484 TV lines of resolution-better than you can get with any VCR. You can store days, weeks or even months of images on its 40- or 160-GB hard drive.

Plus, the VDR hard drive is removable, giving you unlimited storage capacity. Simply install a new hard drive when your existing one is full. It also lets you secure valuable video data in a safe or at an off-site location.

Finding footage is fast and easy-no more hours rewinding tape. Simply follow the intuitive menu prompts to retrieve images by date, time, camera or alarm. Familiar, VCR-like controls let you scan through footage quickly or watch noise-free video frame by frame.

A surveillance system is only the first step in protecting your inventory. You also need to be able to share your recorded evidence with the authorities to resolve incidents quickly. The GE Security StoreSafe™ digital video recorder features a built-in CD-R drive and one-button image printing—making it easy to share video evidence with law enforcement officials.

Producing evidence on StoreSafe is a simple process. Just perform an instant digital search to find the evidence you need, and press a button to print the image. Or transfer video to an evidence CD with the push of another button. StoreSafe's built-in CD-R drive produces CDs that can be viewed on any PC. It's simple, and it provides hard evidence that shoplifters can't dispute.

StoreSafe lets you record from up to 16 cameras, and you can use any networked PC to watch live or recorded images. You can even view images remotely over the Internet. StoreSafe provides instant search capabilities—add the optional ProBridge interface to the StoreSafe Pro and you can search incidents by point-of-sale or transaction text.

Introducing the VSR from GE Security

The VSR is a streaming digital video recorder built on a proprietary hardware and software platform. It is designed to provide real-time, high resolution recording with menu based search capabilities. The VSR is perfect for replacing aging and problematic security VCRs by providing:

High resolution video

Up to 60 pictures per second

Selectable quality settings

Multilevel password protection

Single channel MPEG4 recording

Ethernet port to link LAN/WAN

Simple onscreen menu system

Audio recording

    Customer Benefits
The VSR allows users to replace their security VCRs one at a time, or as budget allows. The form factor and control systems mimic a security VCR, making replacement easy and affordable. Once installed, the cost savings over a VCR really begin to show. ROI justification for purchasing these digital recorders includes the reduced amount of manpower needed to remove and archive tapes. Additionally, VCRs are problematic and prone to frequent replacement and maintenance. Because the VSR is a digital recorder, image quality will increase dramatically over traditional VCRs, while the time required to review video and search for events will decrease dramatically.
